March 1st Town Hall Event Scheduled from 3-4pm
At the town hall, we will discuss legal representation and legal rights benefits afforded to members of UFF-UNF. We will also talk about how recently announced legislation (i.e., “Teacher’s Bill of Rights,” HB 999, etc.) could impact the terms and conditions of our employment, including the possible nullification of our collective bargaining agreement (CBA; here is a link). If the CBA is nullified, many of the benefits that ALL faculty enjoy, including the right to salary negotiations, academic freedom, annual evaluations, departmental guidelines, promotion, tenure, layoffs, non-reappointment, discipline, recall, etc., could disappear.
Having a CBA protects faculty, especially in times of turmoil. Look at the difference between what is happening at St. Leo University (no CBA; St. Leo laid off a significant portion of its faculty and staff regardless of rank) versus the New College of Florida (strong CBA).
