Bargaining Update

Bargaining Update

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 PM on Zoom, is the next full book bargaining session. You can anticipate that bargaining will involve both teams discussing several outstanding articles mentioned below.

The UFF-UNF and the UNF BOT have made quick progress on bargaining over the past several months. The contract comprises 38 articles and 15 appendices, and our teams have agreed to a large swath of the contract thus far.

By our count, the outstanding articles left in the negotiations are listed below. For ease, we divided these articles by who is currently crafting a response. As you can see, at the last count, UFF-UNF only has six articles left to counter, and the UNF-BOT team has ten articles and four appendices left to counter (fourteen total). Keep in mind that countering an article is a step toward resolution. Articles typically require several rounds of countering before a mutual agreement can be reached.

Your UFF-UNF bargaining team has worked carefully and diligently to turn articles around as quickly as possible. We have rarely waited to respond to an article for multiple weeks. We aim to close full book negotiations as quickly as possible so faculty can receive their much deserved and needed salary increase. For example, in the last bargaining session, UFF-UNF worked during the caucus to respond swiftly to the UNF-BOT’s salary proposal the same day it was proposed. We continue to state at the bargaining table and in our communications with faculty and administration that UFF-UNF is positioned to close full book negotiations and would like to do so as soon as possible. It is also UFF-UNF’s hope that the UNF-BOT team will accept UFF-UNF’s request for salary retroactivity, consistent with past across-the-board raises.
