For the Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 – Agreement reached on 9 of 12 items – intellectual property, continuity of instruction, ISQ administration, ISQ use for annual evaluation and tenure appraisal, ISQ use for application dossier for tenure or promotion, ISQ scheduling, tenure clock, conference reimbursement, retention and non-waiver of other rights and continued negotiations.

Letter urging the President to pause the university’s plan to reopen campus on August 5, 2020 and to implement a fully remote start when classes begin on August 17, 2020.

7.28.2020. UFF Position on Reopening Campus
The United Faculty of Florida (UFF) calls on state leadership to “issue directives to transition all Florida Institutions of Higher Education to transition to remote learning…until public health conditions improve…” The First Coast News article can be read HERE.

7.31.2020. UFF-UNF Forum on In-Unit Faculty Rights
Zoom event held for all in-unit faculty to highlight faculty rights and protections contained within the Collective Bargaining Agreement and MOUs reached as a result of impact bargaining.

8.12.2020. UFF-UNF Health and Safety Reporting Notice Sent to Faculty
Per university policy and guidelines in Article 15.2 of the CBA, all unsafe conditions should be reported to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). After EHS investigation, the Director of EHS will notify the reporter within seven days of EHS findings.

MOU clarifies “the manner in which intellectual property, continuity of instruction, conference reimbursement, tenure clock, and other terms of the current collective bargaining agreement are conducted during the exigency of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

11.6.2020. UNF Council of Chairs Approves COVID-related Statement on Annual Evaluations and P&T Evaluations
The language from the Council of Chairs is supported by UFF-UNF. The statement acknowledges the challenges faculty face during the pandemic and offers perspectives that will assist future dossier reviewers when assessing applications for promotion and tenure.

A fifth MOU was reached to extend “visiting appointments currently contracted for the 20-21 academic year, when offered by the university, by one additional year for the 21-22 academic year, for a maximum of five years.”
